Sign to Oppose SB 63 and Protect Home Rule for Ohio Communities
Add signatureRegardless of how we feel about Ranked Choice Voting, we are opposed to SB 63 violating Local Home Rule. Ohio's charter cities have a constitutional right to decide for themselves if RCV or other election methods are more appropriate for our communities than pick-one, plurality-wins elections. Big government should not unfairly punish communities if we choose to achieve majority rule through Instant Runoffs with RCV. Please sign below to protect Ohio communities' right to Home Rule. I am excited to give more time and energy to the cause of Ranked Choice Voting as it presents such an intuitive, reasonable and realistic solution to our current nightmare of a system. I will be participating with questions and enthusiasm for furthering the cause in Zoom meetings with you over the next week.
Today I am writing for a slightly different,but still related reason. In the future with Ranked Choice Voting, we will elect and support candidates who readily demonstrate their concern for the environment; until then, we have to make our voices heard in other ways.
I am asking you to share this simple link https://stopwillow.org/ so that your followers can sign petitions and leave more impactful voice comments (script provided) in opposition of the Willow Project, a devastating oil drilling project which would catapult us over the 2-degree warming threshold and represent a betrayal of President Biden’s commitments.
Until we can vote our values to power with RCV (in the very near future; I plan to help!), and knowing that all justice is climate justice, we must use every resource we have.
