Ismar Volić is a Professor of Mathematics and the Director of the Institute for Mathematics and Democracy at Wellesley College. He graduated from Boston University and received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Brown University. His research is in topology and social choice theory. He is the author of many articles and books and has delivered more than three hundred lectures in over twenty countries. He was a visiting professor at Harvard University, MIT, and the University of Virginia. His writing has appeared in publications such as The Hill, TIME, and LitHub. His latest book, Making Democracy Count: How Mathematics Improves Voting, Electoral Maps, and Representation, won the Mathematical Association of America’s Euler Prize and was a finalist for the PROSE award given by the Association of American Publishers. The book is based on The Mathematics of Democracy, a popular course he created and has taught for several years at Wellesley.

We'll talk about presenting core material to different audiences, the process from preparation to follow-through, and have opportunities for you to practice portions of a presentation each week in a friendly environment. You'll also be able to ask any and all questions so as to ensure a positive speaking gig experience.

A great way to spread a positive message about Ranked Choice Voting throughout Ohio is for all of us to write Letters to The Editor (LTEs). Join us as Ohioans attend this Rank the Vote Workshop at the national level. You'll learn best practices and strategies to write an LTE for your local or regional news outlets.

After attending Pitch Training and National Speaker Training, join this State-specific dive focusing on RTV Ohio Speaker guidelines overview, discuss topics of your choosing, and practice together! Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and we want to honor you!   

Central Ohio Chapter will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Party at Dempsey's Food & Spirits on South High Street in Columbus.  

Dempsey's is an exceptionally cool restaurant/bar with walls and walls of political memorabilia.  We will be situated in the back room (tons of stuff to see). There is a parking garage about a block away.  It's the perfect venue for our awesome volunteers.
